Our people

As a global team working across so many contexts, we are inherently diverse and locally-led but we see EDI as ever-evolving and we always strive to do more. We’ve recently worked with a change agency to develop a new approach for EDI, building diversity and creating initiatives that will drive inclusivity and connection across our organisation.

What makes us proudest

We listen. We carry out regular surveys across our organisation on everything from flexible working to training, to make sure we’re listening to everyone’s needs and improving the experience of our team so that everyone can thrive.

Get to know us better

What are your general working hours?

Most jobs are full-time with a standard 37.5 hour week — Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day, plus 1 hour for lunch. We’re open to part-time and flexible working requests. Each day we work 7.5 hours flexibly. There aren’t set start or finish times, and we can take breaks throughout the day (but important meetings come first).

What’s your working policy?

We’re a hybrid team with no mandatory office days. We have one office in Penryn, where we started out, which those who are based in Cornwall use regularly. We also have remote team members who work from home across the UK.

How do you help people develop their careers?

When you join us, we’ll help you meet the whole team and see where your job fits in. You’ll set your objectives in week one with your line manager, have regular check-ins, and an appraisal every year. Our training budget is generous, and we’re working on a progression framework that will help you improve specific skills to prepare for more senior jobs.

What type of culture do you encourage?

We’re a global team working across multiple countries, cultures and time zones so it’s really important to work collaboratively and communicate regularly so everyone has what they need to thrive independently. We value honesty, openness and integrity, encouraging a diverse and inclusive environment where communication is transparent and respectful.

What social events do you run?

We organise a few trips a year to Cornwall to make sure everyone gets to spend some time face-to-face in the office. Each trip usually involves at least a couple of socials, from sports day at the beach to pizza and pints on the harbour.

What accessibility support do you give?

We consider accessibility needs from the moment you apply, so anyone who wants to work with us has everything they need to feel comfortable and bring their whole self to work. We assess new team members in week one so we can provide whatever you need for a comfortable working environment, whether that be physical equipment or something else.

How do you give back to your community?

Our Cornwall office is based on a university campus where we have built a strong network, allowing us to contribute to talks and lectures, host students and partner with academics on research. We offer our team two volunteering days per year which they use to support the local community (most recently helping out on a community farm).
